[Adoptacomposter] adoptors united

Hi all,

I will not come to the opening tonight unfortunately because my daughter
is sick. :-(
I read a little about "open compost systems", these are usually flat
spread out on the ground or in large containers with an open top...
I think the container system that we have needs to be "dressed" for two
reasons:
- to protect from pests (mostly flies, but also rats, mice and foxes
- to retain warmth in winter

Since I have some experience with worms and have not yet seen a worm bin
in a semi-open box with so many holes,
I was planning on laying the sides with cloth and then layers of
cardboard and then filling the bedding with the food buried in the
middle towards the bottom.

Would love to see us experiment with different ways. maybe we could meet
sometime soon when the sun is shining again?

My neighbors Peter and Gaby adopted one of the last free boxes, filled
in the name label and fed the worms and will register online to the list
as well.
