I think the question of food preparation is a question of
maintenance.<br>
For those that are OK with a slow turnover (and not too much
maintenance) it's OK to throw in whole foods and just wait a few
months.<br>
For those that are regularly maintaining (and harvesting),
pulverizing food with a hand mixer works well.<br>
Worms can process prepared food under good living conditions super
fast - like in a weeks time!<br>

Also, I've had the opposite experience with moisture. Too much
moisture = lots of mold and other critters (especially mites and
maggots!)<br>
So, moisture is important but so is lots of air.<br>
I DO NOT advise leaving the compost open to rain. The food usually
has enough moisture to be enough without extra moisturizing and
the Berlin autumn/winter has a lot of moisture just from the air.
I actually put a little roof over my bin at home to keep the rain
out, and regularly turn the mixture and add dry leaves and paper
shreds to try to keep it airy.<br>

(1) please try to work with 600(w)x300(h) ratio of
your pix.<br>
as it is the same size of the actual composter...
so it wont get distorted.<br>
crop the picture if necessary.<br>
the site can resize, but cannot adjust ratio.<br>

(2) note that each of your upload has a [x] mark
followed<br>
click on ]x], you can delete an upload<br>
(sometimes you may want to)<br>

(3) for avatar, you can always keep changing by
