Thank you shu lea,
Let me add some minds I learned from my scientific advicer. For the decomposing process, we should not forget thousands of unvisible microbes and bacterias. They collaborate with our worms. Some come from skins of vegitables, fruits and some live in the soil and dry leaves. In order to bring variety of them, adding soil, covering the box with dry leaves help a lot. The soft layers of papers and dry leaves on the top gave the air between and it helps for keeping the box warm. We could image the forest, how they live together. If you have a chance to go forest, you may like to dig the earth and see many examples. Maybe mixing some forest soil and leaves to the box.
